It’s Gonna Be an AWESOME Birthday!!!

I am a Valentine’s Day baby! I was born on Saturday, February 14, 1981 in Wichita, Kansas. This Valentine’s Day will be my 28th birthday (again on a Saturday), and I just got the greatest news for how I will be spending it! The manager of the Nordstrom MAC counter of the South Bay Galleria called me and they need free-lancers to work that weekend, so he called me!!! I’ll be working there on the 13th from 12 to 5:30pm, 14th (birthday – afterward going to dinner with my wonderful husband…can’t think of a better way to spend it) from 1:30 to 6:30pm, and the 15th from 12 – 5:30pm. WOOOOOOT! It’s for the launch of the Hello Kitty collection, and there’s even a special training for it at the PRO store. :-)

SO SO SO SO SO happy that I will finally be fulfilling a dream I’ve had for a long long time – working for MAC!

If you’re in the LA/South Bay area and you’d like to meet me or get your makeup done, then come on down (might want to make an appointment first).

Look: Black Ore Solar Bits

Last summer there was a MAC launch called Neo Sci-Fi. It was an amazing launch with lots of new colors…and these new items called Solar Bits. I got two of them…one of them being Black Ore. They’re basically like pigments, but not as finely milled so they’re a little chunky. I didn’t apply it with any mixing medium, so it settled into the creases of my lids a little. Overall, a very smokey, sultry look!

  • Cheeks: X-Rocks blush

Oh, and I wanted to share that I got a call today to work the Hello Kitty launch for MAC at my local Nordstrom counter!!!!! :-) There’s even a special training for it! I’m so excited!!!! Ok, now see more pictures for this look! Read the rest of this entry »

Look: Golden Greens

I think that green looks are my absolute favorite. I’m not sure why, but I can’t get the same kind of dimension with  multi-hue combination of any other color. Lots of people commented on my eyes the day I wore this look, so if you’re interested in a tutorial or something using greens, let me know.

Review & Swatches: Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin

udpp-sin-2

I am no stranger to the long-time cult favorite Urban Decay Primer Potion (UDPP). I hadn’t discovered it until I started reading beauty blogs, and once I did, there was no turning back. I use it pretty exclusively with a MAC Paint Pot on top. When used alone, I found that it still creased a little by the end of the day, but NEVER when layered with a PP. It’s my HG (holy grail) of eyeshadow primer+base.

And now Urban Decay has released a new version of the ever popular Primer Potion in a shade called Sin. It’s a champagne beige color and very shiny/shimmery. The original is flesh colored and doesn’t look like anything is even on your lid once blended in. Sin adds a great shimmery sheen and could easily just be worn alone for a simple eye. I’m loving the deeper color. My shadows cling to it like glue and it brings out the shimmer that’s already in non-matte or satin shadows. I don’t generally wear many matte looks anyway, so Sin will be what I use most often from now on I’m sure. Another thing I noticed is that Sin seems to be a little thinner and more liquidy, but I’ll have to observe if that’s still the case once I saw that universally-hated bottle open to scoop out the contents and store them in other containers.

Overall Coloruza Rating: 5/5 – At it’s base, it’s a stellar product, yet with an even better twist than the original. It works, it’s pretty, it’s got shimmer, and it stands on its own (the product, not the bottle…though the bottle does too…nevermind). Only drawback: packaging (but you can get around that).

I got this from Sephora.com because I’m a Beauty Insider (anyone can be one – just sign up). Otherwise, it’s slated to launch for Spring.

Look: Stila Pastel Pearl Palette

stila-pastel-pearl-palette-5stila-pastel-pearl-palette-2

This is one of the few times I didn’t fill in my eyebrows. The look is very soft, and as you would guess, pastel! I wasn’t a huge fan…but maybe I went a little light on the colors. It’s hard to say definitively whether this palette is a wash or not after only one look. I will try again, but maybe when it gets closer to spring.

  • Cheeks: NARS Super Orgasm + Dior Pink Diamond Shimmer

Two more weeks, folks! This one is looking promising, but I have so many blushes already…will have to wait and see. I’m not sure of the launch date yet on these – just promo pics for now. Enjoy!! Look: Bold RED Lips with Black Gloss

In my opinion, wearing red (and I mean RED) lipstick all day long is incredibly difficult. After only an hour, I’m pressing my lips together hoping that it’s not clumping or fading or bleeding, etc. Even with how hard it is, I still attempt to pull it off from time to time. This is quite a bold look for me, and instead of wearing a red gloss, I opted for a black (yes, black) gloss! Newly launched by Lancome is it’s Piha Black Lipgloss – it’s black with silver sparkles in it, and it’s pretty sheer. No, it’s not just for Halloween. It really deepened up the lipstick color. I thought the eyes turned out a little too dark and smokey, but it was ok because after lunch, I switched so just some neutral lipgloss haha! Ah well, I tried!

Look: MAC Holiday ’08 Warm Eyes Palette

Up until this past holiday season, I was not a pre-assembled palette kind of girl – eyes or lips. But I got sucked in by several, and now I’m noticing a lot that I wouldn’t mind having! So it started with the MAC Holiday 2008 collection. I got 3 of the 4 six-shadow eye palettes that they had, excluding the “smokey eyes” one since I for SURE have colors that will do the same thing. This is a look I did with the Warm Eyes palette. It’s very interesting because it has a dark green color as well as a cranberry type color…x-mas? So I was hesitant to put it all together, but actually really happy with how it came out!

Oh, and the other interesting fact – in this palette the cranberry color is called Grand Entrance, and MAC has already come out with a color called Grand Entrance which was an LE frosty light pink highlighter color.

Look: Gold, Orange, & Pink

A slightly colorful look I did last week. I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out! The colors blended together really nicely and I’m totally in love with the lip color: Lancome’s new Downtown Pink plumping lipgloss. I had to include a few full face shots because the colors just came out so nicely. Enjoy!  :-)
