Look: Smokey Navy with Pigments

My goal was to use only pigments for this look. I got close – I was too lazy and frustrated with fallout to find a pigment for a highlight color so I grabbed Sugarshot which was sitting right there on my counter. I’m gonna do a black and gold smokey look tomorrow (for my dear reader Rachael who requested it!). I haven’t decided if I’ll use yellow-type gold or more gold (bronze) gold. Hmmmm Black Ore solar bits maybe? Perhaps…you’ll have to wait and see!! :-)

Look: Icy Blue Clouds

** This is my 100th post on Coloruza! Wooooo!!! **

Ruth described this one as an icy blue cloud! :-) I was in LOVE with this look – I really think it’s one of my favorites, so it’s the perfect post for #100! And the pictures came out so perfectly…I wish my hair and face could look like this everyday haha! Enjoy!!

Look: Sugarsweet Inspiration

Inspired by a very bright and colorful by Temptalia, I tried to re-create it. Didn’t come out quite the same, but part of my problem was that I accidentally used Gorgeous Gold instead of Goldmine (too early in the morning I guess). It still came out ok, but I think I need to back off the pinks and purples a little. So I’ll be looking for some non-pink inspirations next. :-)

Oh, and I recently discovered Make-Up Alley FOTD board. AWESOME (Thanks Lynn!!!)! I posted my first look there – the Platinum Peacock one. *Edit* I’ve been posting one per day…gotta get on that watermarking so I can maybe get some more traffic over here. People seemed to like it! I posted under hkaruza but I think I’ll typically post under coloruza in a few weeks. :-)

Nostalgia…My Wedding :-)

I have no idea why I’m feeling nostalgic tonight…well, yeah I kinda do. I’m about to pick up my husband from the airport – he was away on a business trip for a whole week! Also someone was asking on Temptalia about wedding makeup so I started thinking about mine of course. I actually didn’t do it myself *gasp*! I hired this gal named Laura who was so amazing and she did my hair and makeup. We became friends after…bonded by our love for all things beauty! Anyway, I really wanted to share with you some of my wedding pictures (proofs). This was over 2.5 years ago…so yeah, I was thinner then…benefits of being able to spend my money on a personal trainer and living with a roommate who made me go to the gym all the time! Aaahhh the single days ;-) Hehe!

ANYway, notice the makeup. It’s the kind that makes you see ME and not the makeup, you know? Bold yet subtle. I loved it…wished I had filled in my brows back then, but I’m not complaining. She contoured my cheeks, did some neutrals on my lid with dark liner and the lashes. I’m telling you, the lashes made all the difference!! It’s that little something that makes people look twice – and with as much makeup as I wear on a daily basis, I needed to be somewhat dramatic. With the lashes, it doesn’t matter as much what colors are on the lid. For the lips, I was wearing a Pro-Longwear which is super dry for me, but it lasted at least!

Look: Summerwear Quad

I completely forgot to write down what exactly I wore when I did this look…so I can’t remember the lips (sowwwy!). I know I used this quad though. The look itself was meh anyway. Ah well, here it is! What are your thoughts?

Look: Going Retro with Aqualine Teal Liner

I’ve been so tired of wearing so many pinks and pink type colors lately, that I was completely bored with this look…until I put the liner on. I used all of the new colors that I picked up from MAC’s Sugarsweet collection, but they were so pale. What is it about that liner that makes everything stand out more?! I seriously get so many compliments when I wear that liner. I think that the liner must just scream at people “LOOK AT ME!! I’M PRETTY!!!” and they get mezmerized and say it out loud or something haha! Anyway, it totally made the look come together for me. I haven’t worn that liner in a loooong time, so it was strange how the brush wasn’t…um…well it was rather stiff and hard to work with – like when you bend a brush and it doesn’t bend back haha! Ah well, it was workable :-)

I’ve started to name my looks after how my friend Ruth (from work) calls them. She will look at my eyes everyday and say “Ooooh, this look is __________.” And that’s where I get some of these names from!! To her, this look was retro, like from the 70′s or something. LOL!

Look: Chanel Mystic Eyes Quad (attempt #2)

Here’s another attempt at wearing the Chanel Mystic Eyes Quad. This time since I used a brown base, it came out very brown looking. I think the next time I try it, I’ll use a purple base to see if that brings any more color out of it.

Look: Pink & The Spiced Chocolate Quad

I haven’t been able to master the Spiced Chocolate Quad yet. The few times I’ve tried it, it hasn’t come out looking spectacular IMO. Here is another attempt though…

Look: Camouflage Greens

I was trying to match my camouflage based shirt – it says “Teachers Fight the War on Stupidity” haha! I used those greens that I never touch – the matte and muddy type ones, you know? I also took a chance on the lips with some bright oranges, and they came out…well…bright! So this look is kinda eh, but here you go!

Review: Chanel Tweed Blush Duos

If you’ve followed my posts lately, you might have noticed that I’ve been consistantly using Chanel Tweed blushes. There are 4 out, but I only picked up 3…Rose, Pink, & Corail (Coral).

chanel-tweed-blushes-3

They’ve been out for a long time, but I’ve always passed them by because they didn’t look special at the counter. I had some items to return (which meant money to spend), so I thought I’d give them a try. The Chanel MA told me how she loved them, so ok.

She was right! I love them too! They give my cheeks a nice sheen and the color isn’t overdone. I like how it’s buildable and doesn’t apply too much with the first swipe. I’m not sure about the gold shimmer on top – I don’t think it’ll last, like an overlay. It’s a shame too because I love shimmer. But on the other hand, it’s good because I’m gettin older…errr at least I will be gettin older, so I need some cheek colors that have a nice texture, aren’t matte, but aren’t too shimmery either.

All in all, they were worth it, and I’m really happy with them. Overall Coloruza raiting: 4 out of 5. They’re not my omg perfect blushes, but they’re up there in my favorites, and I’m sure I’ll be reaching for them for a while :-)

Have you tried them? What do you think?
