NOTD: Chanel Black Velvet w/ Illusion D’Or

Recently Chanel released 3 limited edition polishes. Black Velvet was advertised as a matte, but from swatches on other blogs, it looked very velvet and squishy-like. So I thought I would give it a try. It did NOT play nice with the flaws on my nails, so I did not take pictures of it on its own. So of course I layered it with the other (much more coveted) limited edition Chanel Illusion D’Or. It’s a golden glitter top coat with sparce large pieces of bule glitter thrown in. It’s gorgeous. Definitely for layering, though.

Can you see the little blue flakes? There are some more pics below that show it better – keep reading! It’s pretty, and I should try layering it over some other colors too. Sorry for the frazzle (lack of clean-up around the edges and cuticles). This wasn’t my best work by any means :-)  See some more pictures!!  Read the rest of this entry »

NOTD: Chanel Nouvelle Vague

This is a great Tiffany blue-type color. It has a subtle shimmer, and the formula was really great. I think it’s such a beautiful color! Love this!

The flash is a little strong in this picture, so there are some others that came out a little better. Check them out! :-) Read the rest of this entry »

Look: Kat Von D Metal Palette

Well, for this look, all I know for the shadows is that I used the ones from the Kat Von D Metal Palette. I never wrote down which ones, but luckily there is a limited amount in there. It’s very blue. Not sure if I like it that much, but here it is…

Look: Chameleon

I call this one chameleon because that is what it looks like to me! It’s like it could change color depending on how you look at it…like a duochrome nail polish! It’s got greens and teals and golds… Whoa! I loved how it turned out :-)

Look: New Years Eve Dark Eyes

We went to a friend’s New Years party – it wasn’t wild or anything, but the dress code was “semi-formal,” so we got some nice clothes on and I decided to do a really dark eye look. It’s really a classic smokey, but ultra dark. So naturally, I did lighter on the lips. It was a good look for me because I felt sexy and confident, my lips were easy to reapply with or without a mirror, and I wasn’t self conscious about my lips fading while I drank, ate, talked, etc. The evening was a lot of fun!!

Look: Bright…Like Sunshine!

This was a look I did using NARS Mekong and Galapogos…and it disturbs me that I cannot find my Mekong after the move :-( I’ll keep looking for it though. With all of the overcast spitting of rain we’ve been having, it’s nice to do a post that reminds me of the SoCal sunshine!

Look: Sometimes It All Comes Together

This is one of those looks that I felt really came together the way I wanted. I love the combination of yellows and blues, and I get to do it a lot with all of the UCLA shirts that I have. :-) It almost looks kinda green huh? Go figure haha! ;-P I’m really fond of the way that it all looks with the blush, lipstick and eye look all together. Best part? It’s actually a really easy look to create. Some simple yellows and blues with blue liner. Easy!

Look: Green Theme (new fav!)

This is one of my new favorite looks! I’m gonna end up posting it twice, but to tell the truth, I’ve worn it 3 times since I did this one. *giggle* It’s surprisingly simple actually (well, the shadow part anyway). I wasn’t sold on the lip color, so I when I did it the second time, I went more nude and orangy-coral. Plus, this one was with glasses, so that hides it a little. Since I wear daily-disposable contacts, I didn’t want to waste a whole pair on only a dinner/evening out (husband’s friend’s birthday dinner). So…anyway, there you go. I <3 GREEN SHADOWS!!!

Look: Hawaiian Dress Day @ School with Dior Purple Jazz Club

Please excuse the stupid silly look today…the whole outfit kinda sucks, but I gotta participate to show my school spirit you know?

I don’t like the Dior Jazz club palettes. They’re nothing special and there’s really only 2 shadow colors. Meh, not impressed. I already have a purple liner…and the “topcoat” is lame! I’m gonna try to take them back. What do you think (silly outfit aside)? The lip combo though…wowie! TDF! Sparkle for days :-) Made me stare at my lips all the way to school LOL!

Look: It’s Picture Day & I Don’t Want to Pick Colors

:-( I had one of those days…the kind where you just don’t want to get ready. Yep, didn’t feel like doing my makeup this particular day. Have you ever had those? I wasn’t sure what to wear and I didn’t want to pick out shadow colors. I’m not sure why this happened to me, and I hope it’s gone from my system soon!! I was wining to my husband, and he said “so don’t get ready.” I laughed. That’s not an option. For me, that would be like going to school naked or something! Seriously, the only downside to doing my makeup in full-looks everyday is that THIS is what I look like to people. Anything would look…well…strange, different. It’s expected that I look like this. *Sigh* It’s ok though – I like what I do…just having a stressful week I suppose :-) So this look is pretty basic and simple. Care to try it yourself?

Ok, and that being said – I LOVE this look, really. My picture came out awesome (as school pictures go you know). Who knew huh? So simple :-)
