Look: Minx & Teal
Posted by Heather | Filed under Bronze, Kat Von D, Looks, MAC, NARS, Purple, Smashbox, Teal, Yaby
I’ve recently gotten into some Smashbox shadows, and I absolutely love them! The texture is buttery soft and smooth, the pigmentation is fantastic, and best of all, they are the same size as MAC so I can depot them! Genius! I’ve only picked up a few colors to start: two oranges (Flamingo & Torch), a yellow-tinted white highlight (Oyster), and this one: a taupe/purple-ish color called Minx. It’s a fantastic and fascinating color! Really, I have nothing like it…which as we know is hard to find. I thought I’d mix it up a little and add some teal to this look to match my shirt. :-)

For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPPS (primer), Yaby Pearl Paints in beige and teal, Smashbox Minx (all over lid), Strike a Pose (outer lid & crease), Carbon (crease), Unbasic White (highlight), Kat Von D Proud Peacock (upper lashline), UD 24/7 Flipside (waterline), Plushlash mascara
- Cheeks: NARS Madly + a little NARS Orgasm
- Lips: Mellow Mood l/s + Viva Glam V l/g

- Eyes: UDPP (primer), Yaby browns, Engaging MES (inner lid), Laura Geller Devil’s Food (middle lid), Buckwheat (outer lid & crease), Creme de Miel (highlight), Laura Geller Dutch Chocolate baked eyeliner, Plushlash mascara

Look: Gold + Teal = Awesome!
Posted by Heather | Filed under Bronze, Gold, Kat Von D, Laura Geller, Looks, MAC, Teal
I finally got back on MUA after being off of it for a good while. Things at work are too busy for me to play :-) But I needed some ideas, and that’s always a great place to go. There’s a FOTD (Face of the Day) board where people post their looks and get responses. A lot of people ask for CC (Constructive Criticism), but I do not. I’m not posting to be criticized…I’m giving back ideas and taking ideas from others. I do value opinions though, and I love hearing yours (afterall, this site is kinda for YOU, right? lol!) in the comments. Lots of people on other boards feel that FOTD board is just for people fishing for compliments, and that’s just not the case. The exchange of ideas is enormous, the validation is inspiring, and the overall positive ways that women are interacting is uplifting. That’s the way I see it, anyway. Have you been to the boards? What’s your opinion?
Anyway, on to the look…someone posted a FOTD using the UD Baked palette I believe, and I loved the combination of gold and teal, so I gave it my own spin. At first I didn’t like it at all and was like, uh oh…what have you done?! But with a little bit of a darker color right in the outer crease, it came together, and I really liked how it’s bold, edgy, and different from the everyday, you know? Maybe a little overboard on the blush, and the liner still needs to be thicker more toward the outer edge, but still, I like it (and nobody’s perfect right?) :-)

For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPP (primer), Painterly PP (base), Metal X Pure Ore (inner lid), Metal X Goldspice (middle lid), Natural Flare MES over those, Teal Pigment (outer lid & crease), Femme Fi (highlight), Kat Von D Proud Peacock (upper lashline), UD 24/7 Flipside (lower lashline), Graphblack Technakohl (waterline), Plushlash mascara
- Cheeks: Laura Geller Sunswept mineralize blush
- Lips: Buoy-o-Buoy l/s + Just a Smudge Suntint balm

Look: Kat Von D Ludwig Bronzes
Posted by Heather | Filed under Bobbi Brown, Bronze, Brown, Gold, Kat Von D, Looks, MAC, Neutral
Here’s a look using the Kat Von D Ludwig Palette. It’s not perfect, and it didn’t wow me, but it was alright. I like the look of the Peacock eyeliner, but it was too thin on the outer corner. I should have made it thicker – but of course I didn’t see that before taking the pictures. I swear, pictures are totally unforgiving! :-) So do we like the bronzes? If you like more browns and earthy tones, I definitely recommend this palette!!!

For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPPS (primer), Bare Study PP (base), Kat Von D Ludwig Palette: Downtown (inner), Baroque (middle), Leather (outer & crease), Clay (highlight), Kat Von D Proud Peacock liquid liner (upper lashline), Jealous Kohl Power (waterline), Plushlash mascara
- Cheeks: Earth to Earth Mineralized blush duo
- Lips: Bobbi Brown Beige Gold metalic lip color + Oh Baby lipglass

Look & Review: Dior Amber Design Quint
Posted by Heather | Filed under Bronze, Brown, Dior, Eyeshadow, Gold, Looks, My Collection, Neutral, Reviews
I’m not a huge fan of Dior quints only because their pigmentation is usually too weak for my taste. The quality is great, but most of the time the colors muddy together on my lid.
That being said, I have very mixed feelings about this particular “quint” which I wouldn’t even say is a quint because it only has 4 eyeshadow colors, and one of those is only a “shine” color. In place of the 5th color is a brown gel (I think) liner. To be honest, I felt jipped! I have a ton of brown eyeliners! Ah well, I do see the value in having everything all together in one place I suppose, and to give it credit, the liner was very nice and dark, so it worked well with the palette.

The shadow colors themselves, are pretty nice. They’re not incredibly unique, but they’re very pretty. I love golds and coral colors and browns. It creates a nice soft look, which is great, but not what I’m all about, you know? The shadows are soft and go on smoothly. And on a side note…I’m really liking this lip combo! :-)
What are your thoughts?

For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPP (primer), Painterly PP (base), Dior Amber Design quint (as suggested – including liner), Plushlash mascara
- Cheeks: Cheek & Cheerful mineralized blush
- Lips: Bobbi Brown Brown Metalic lip color + Nice Mix Up tri-color lipgloss

Look: Color Crafted Cheeks
Posted by Heather | Filed under Bobbi Brown, Bronze, Gold, Looks, MAC
These mineralized blushes from MAC’s Color Crafted Collection are some of the prettiest blushes ever. The swirl of colors is brilliant. I may have gone a bit overboard with the cheek color today, but I can’t help it. I love the way it looks, especially up against a red shirt. :-) The eyes using pretty much just that little quad, also came out great. So far, I’m impressed with the few products I’ve tried from this glorious launch!

For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPPS (primer), Cash Flow PP (base), Natural Flare MES quad, Bobbi Brown Chocolate Shimmer Ink (liner), Plushlash mascara
- Cheeks: Style Demon mineralize blush + Porcelain Pink MSF
- Lips: Naked Paris l/s + Gold Rebel lipglass

Look: MAC Freelance Work – Solar Bits Love
Posted by Heather | Filed under Bronze, Brown, Gold, Looks, MAC, Smokey
I worked again for MAC a couple weeks ago. It was some freelance hours, and I’m really happy they called me. It was a lot of fun! I sold stuff (of course) and did a few make-overs, one on a girl going to an Indian Wedding :-) She liked her look so that made me happy! This look was one I particularly like, and I actually had several customers asking what products I was wearing because they really liked the “foil” look that the Solar Bits gave it. I hooked ‘em up :-) And of course, I didn’t let them get the Solar Bits without getting at least one Paint Pot…because really it would just be irresponsible of me to let them try to do a look without one, right?! Hmmm, so that gets me thinking…what do YOU all use as an eyeshadow primer/base?? What works best for you?

For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPPS (primer), Indian Wood PP (base), Scatterays Solar Bits (inner lid), Impassioned Solar Bits (outer lid), Carbon (crease), Creme de Miel (highlight), Smolder Kohl (liner), Plushlash mascara
- Cheeks: Honey Light + Margin
- Lips: Most Wanted slimshine + Style Warrior lipglass

Look: Another James Honey Attempt
Posted by Heather | Filed under Bronze, Brown, Gold, Looks, MAC
This was my favorite of the times I tried to recreate the look James did with the MAC Honey collection. I did the exact same thing he did using the exact same colors. You know, I think this is one of my favorite looks. Like for one of those days when you just don’t know what to pick or what look to do. It might just be my go-to look. For me, it was easy, and I adore the way it comes together.

For this look I used:
- Eyes: Rubenesque PP (base), Buckwheat (outer lid & crease), Pollinator (above crease), Crème de Miel (inner lid), Nylon (highlight), Smolder Kohl (liner), Smolder+Carbon+Smolder (waterline), Zoomlash mascara
- Brows: Lingering Pencil
- Cheeks: Spring Sheen blush + Honey Light Illuminating Pressed Powder
- Lips: Ravishing Creamsheen l/s + Spiced l/l + She’s a Star l/g

Look: Oh Sweet Honey
Posted by Heather | Filed under Bronze, Brown, Looks, MAC, Neutral
This was my first attempt to recreate that awesome look that James (my MA) did for me. I think it was fair…not perfect, but definitely not a fail. :-) I don’t have very many pictures though because I was running late and I had to get to work earlier than usual. Plus…I was in a sad mood because husband and I got in a tiff the night before. No worries though, all is now well in the Coloruza household :-) So what do you think?

For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPPS (primer), Rubenesque PP (base), Buckwheat (outer lid & crease & lower lashline), Paradisco (above crease), Creme de Miel (inner & middle lid), Nylon (highlight), UD 24/7 Zero (liner), Chanel Exceptionnel mascara
- Cheeks: Margin blush + Honey Light High-light powder
- Lips: Coach Spice l/s + She’s A Star lipglass
See more pictures…but not many! Read the rest of this entry »
