Look: Gold w/ Blue Shady Lady Look

Here’s another wonderful look from the Shady Lady palette. Ignore the messy hair and the sweatshirt. Ah well, at least the makeup came out alright that day :-) I like the fade, and I really like the lips for this look.

For this look I used:

  • Eyes: UDPP (primer), Painterly PP (base), Shady Lady Palette: jet-setting-jennifer (inner lid), easy-wheezie (middle lid), risque-renee (outer lid & crease), MAC Solar White (highlight), Bobbi Brown Cobalt Ink (upper lashline), UD 24/7 Baked (waterline), Chanel Exceptionnel mascara
  • Cheeks: Laura Geller Pink Grapefruit
  • Lips: Le Metier de Beaute Papaya Creme l/g + NARS Moon Fleet l/g

Look: Gorgeous Fire Colors

It may be hard to tell from the pictures, but this is one of my edgy(er) looks. The darkest color in there is some red, so maybe it seems more edgy to me because the colors are so bright. This look is really straight up gold/yellow, orange, and red with black liner. The black liner really pulls it together too. I love wearing this look with a yellow shirt. Everything pops. A guy in my credential program even said something to me, like, whoa…your eyes look cool! It was a nice compliment :-) This look gives me a lot of confidence, but it’s not exactly “professional” so I have to be careful when I wear something this exotic :-) But isn’t it just perfect for summer?!

Gorgeous Fire Colors (6)

I did not write down the exact colors on this look either. I know…I suck. I’m getting back into it I promise. I know I could recreate it again if I wanted though. I am pretty sure I used an SMH gold/yellow color, and for sure SMH has that killer red. MAC doesn’t make a kick ass red like that unfortunately. Something about the red dye causing irritation. Whatever. On my lips I’m gonna say a golden gloss, or at least just a gloss with gold in it. For the upper lash liner, you don’t want to use a pencil – I either used Penultimate liner or Bobbi Brown’s Black Ink liner because both dry and don’t budge. They won’t come off on your upper lid. I have to be very careful with that when I wear lighter lid colors. Oooh I love this look!!! You gotta see some more (many more) pictures below. I have to wear this again soon, and when I do, I’ll document the exact colors if you’d like to know :-)

Look: Chameleon

I call this one chameleon because that is what it looks like to me! It’s like it could change color depending on how you look at it…like a duochrome nail polish! It’s got greens and teals and golds… Whoa! I loved how it turned out :-)

Look: Matching with Orange

Orange can be a difficult color to match with. Since I got the NARS Mediteranee e/s duo, I wanted to wear it. So I chose a nice outfit with brown and decided to pair it with some brown shadows with gold highlights. I really like the end results. I know that orange eyeshadow can be a very bright color for some people to pull off, but if you can do it, I think you should!

Look: Cut the Crease Attempt #1

I’ve seen some online tutorials recently spotlighting looks that use a technique called “cutting the crease” where the color below the crease is drastically different from the one above, and they are not blended together. I did a crazy attempt. It’s wild, bold, and loud! I don’t expect that others would readily wear this look “out” but it’s something fun and different to look at :-) I don’t like it much, and I don’t really like the blush with this look either. Should have gone more pink I think.

Look: Sometimes It All Comes Together

This is one of those looks that I felt really came together the way I wanted. I love the combination of yellows and blues, and I get to do it a lot with all of the UCLA shirts that I have. :-) It almost looks kinda green huh? Go figure haha! ;-P I’m really fond of the way that it all looks with the blush, lipstick and eye look all together. Best part? It’s actually a really easy look to create. Some simple yellows and blues with blue liner. Easy!

Look: Gold + Teal = Awesome!

I finally got back on MUA after being off of it for a good while. Things at work are too busy for me to play :-) But I needed some ideas, and that’s always a great place to go. There’s a FOTD (Face of the Day) board where people post their looks and get responses. A lot of people ask for CC (Constructive Criticism), but I do not. I’m not posting to be criticized…I’m giving back ideas and taking ideas from others. I do value opinions though, and I love hearing yours (afterall, this site is kinda for YOU, right? lol!) in the comments. Lots of people on other boards feel that FOTD board is just for people fishing for compliments, and that’s just not the case. The exchange of ideas is enormous, the validation is inspiring, and the overall positive ways that women are interacting is uplifting. That’s the way I see it, anyway. Have you been to the boards? What’s your opinion?

Anyway, on to the look…someone posted a FOTD using the UD Baked palette I believe, and I loved the combination of gold and teal, so I gave it my own spin. At first I didn’t like it at all and was like, uh oh…what have you done?! But with a little bit of a darker color right in the outer crease, it came together, and I really liked how it’s bold, edgy, and different from the everyday, you know? Maybe a little overboard on the blush, and the liner still needs to be thicker more toward the outer edge, but still, I like it (and nobody’s perfect right?) :-)

Look: Kat Von D Ludwig Bronzes

Here’s a look using the Kat Von D Ludwig Palette. It’s not perfect, and it didn’t wow me, but it was alright. I like the look of the Peacock eyeliner, but it was too thin on the outer corner. I should have made it thicker – but of course I didn’t see that before taking the pictures. I swear, pictures are totally unforgiving! :-) So do we like the bronzes? If you like more browns and earthy tones, I definitely recommend this palette!!!

Look & Review: Dior Amber Design Quint

I’m not a huge fan of Dior quints only because their pigmentation is usually too weak for my taste. The quality is great, but most of the time the colors muddy together on my lid.

That being said, I have very mixed feelings about this particular “quint” which I wouldn’t even say is a quint because it only has 4 eyeshadow colors, and one of those is only a “shine” color. In place of the 5th color is a brown gel (I think) liner. To be honest, I felt jipped! I have a ton of brown eyeliners! Ah well, I do see the value in having everything all together in one place I suppose, and to give it credit, the liner was very nice and dark, so it worked well with the palette.

The shadow colors themselves, are pretty nice. They’re not incredibly unique, but they’re very pretty. I love golds and coral colors and browns. It creates a nice soft look, which is great, but not what I’m all about, you know? The shadows are soft and go on smoothly. And on a side note…I’m really liking this lip combo! :-)

What are your thoughts?
