Look: Kat Von D True Love Palette

It’s about time for a look, eh? I have to say that I really love the Kat Von D palettes. I have them all so far. There’s a new one out that I saw via Scrangie, and I’m super disappointed in it. I won’t be buying that one – 3 creme shadows (the quality of the creme shadows are terrible)?! Ugh. Ah well, I just ordered the new UD Naked palette, so I can’t WAIT to try that one out. I’ve heard so many good things…ok I’m off topic now.

The KVD shadows are of excellent quality in my opinion. They are soft, “buttery”, and have awesome pigmentation. If you haven’t tried them out, you really should. Head on over to Sephora and see which colors suit you best.

For this look I used:

  • Eyes: UDPP (primer), Yaby white & purple PP (base), Kat Von D True Love Palette: Missy (inner lid), Shiba (middle & outer lid), Cholita (crease), Missy (highlight), Penultimate liner, Chanel Exceptionnel mascara
  • Cheeks: Laura Geller Pink Grapefruit
  • Lips: Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss #866

Look: Ode to Scrangie

I follow a LOT of nail polish blogs, and I love all of them, but my favorite one has to be Scrangie. Her nails are so perfect (all really btw) that I think my jaw hit the floor when I saw her nails for the first time. She creates hard core lemmings for EVEYRONE and can make ANY color look good! She is seriously one amaaaaaaazing nail blogger!!! Her honesty and commentary are genuine and often makes me lol!

Scrangie paired up with Rescue Beauty Lounge (RBL) to create her own nail polish shade (called Scrangie), and it is so so so so stunning (click on the link to see one of her swatches). The color has been sold out for a little while, and was the first of the polish blogger colors to do so. Hers is a purple with loads of teal shimmer. One of my all-time favorite nail polish colors! Sooooo…..

I decided to do a look using eyeshadow inspired by that nail polish color. I have a great dark purple and teal color in my set of SMH shadows, and I basically just blended those together. What exactly the breakdown is, I’ll never remember because I didn’t write it down.

Scrangie Look

See the purple AND teal shimmer? It’s certainly not as pretty as the polish, but I think it came out darn cool! In real life it looked more purple, but you know how cameras don’t like to pick up purple colors :-) I have a few more pics to show you if you want to see… Read the rest of this entry »

Look: In the Gallery Quad

I wasn’t sure about this quad when I first got it, but it created a really nice matte look. It’s soft and chic. The shadows looked pink and purple, but it comes out more brown on my lid. It’s so interesting to see how different colors turn out differently on various skin tones. I did a girl’s makeup when I was working at MAC – she was going to be in a beauty pageant – and I started using Satin Taupe. It looked totally purple-ish on her! It was such a cool color, so I had to warm it up with more yellow toned browns. Ok, I digress, but it was interesting!

Look: Purples & Greens

Sorry for the long pauses between posts. I have to get back into the habit. I gotta find my camera so I can take pictures of new looks too :-) I think purple and green go well together.

I did a great look today using the new Style Black shadows. I’ll have to do it again after I find my camera and post it. Really smokey eyes :-) My favorite MUA, Denise, made a killing off of me yesterday! I love her :-) I didn’t get the grease paint stick though, and I’m kinda regretting it. Any thoughts? Do you think it’s a must have?

Look: Minx & Teal

I’ve recently gotten into some Smashbox shadows, and I absolutely love them! The texture is buttery soft and smooth, the pigmentation is fantastic, and best of all, they are the same size as MAC so I can depot them! Genius! I’ve only picked up a few colors to start: two oranges (Flamingo & Torch), a yellow-tinted white highlight (Oyster), and this one: a taupe/purple-ish color called Minx. It’s a fantastic and fascinating color! Really, I have nothing like it…which as we know is hard to find. I thought I’d mix it up a little and add some teal to this look to match my shirt. :-)

Look: Pink + Blue…looks Purple?

Well duh, of course pink and blue blended together are going to look purple! Although I was impressed at how each color managed to stand on it’s own and not get completely muddied together. This look is quite bright and fun.

Look: Purples with Range

The colors that I can show the most depth and range with are greens and teals. There are so many good light vs. dark contrasts that I can make on the eye using those colors. Strangely, purple isn’t usually one of those colors that I can make that nice contrast with. And I say strangely, because it should be easy – purple ranges immensely from light to dark, from the reddish to the blueish, etc. So you’d think it would be easy, but not so in my experience. Put this time I feel like I did accomplish a nice fade. It all doesn’t look like one muddied color for once! I’m not sure what I did differently…maybe using the Yaby Pearl Paints as bases worked better for me. Anyway, here’s the look!

Look: Kat Von D Beethoven Gray & Purple

Well… this turned out more on the gray side than purple. It just goes to show you that the colors come out differently on your skin than they look in the palette. Not one of my favorite looks, but that’s ok. It’s worth a look I think.

Look: Graphic Garden

Holy awesomeness! I love this palette! Ok, I’ve only done one look with it, but I really like it – full of color (which everyone knows is how I like it)!  I like this one even more than the Fresh Cut palette…not more than the Kat Von D palettes though :-) Close second!

Look: Hawaiian Dress Day @ School with Dior Purple Jazz Club

Please excuse the stupid silly look today…the whole outfit kinda sucks, but I gotta participate to show my school spirit you know?

I don’t like the Dior Jazz club palettes. They’re nothing special and there’s really only 2 shadow colors. Meh, not impressed. I already have a purple liner…and the “topcoat” is lame! I’m gonna try to take them back. What do you think (silly outfit aside)? The lip combo though…wowie! TDF! Sparkle for days :-) Made me stare at my lips all the way to school LOL!
