Look: Fyrinnae Pinks & Purples

I’m soooo into these indie brands lately! I am really loving pigments more than anything else right now. I’m sure it’s a phase, but it’s a phase that I’m really enjoying! Fyrinnae is ONE of the best brands out there (only available online), and I have lots of pigments from this company. Everything is vegan, and they have their very own chemist making the cosmetics. What is so great about this company is that you can order samples of the pigments for less than $2 each! And a sample from Fyrinnae is bigger than a little baggie - it’s a small jar that would take you LOTS of looks to finish. I love this brand and am currently plotting my next order. However, everyone else out there seems to love them too, so sometimes they take down their site to control the number of orders, and shipping does take time. They’re a small company, but WELL worth the wait!

Nails: Zoya Yasmeen

I’m wearing all purple today! From my eyeshadow, blush, lipgloss, and sweater, to my nail polish! It actually looks better than it sounds LOL! :-) Here’s a beautiful purple polish - one that just glows! Zoya Yasmeen has multiple dimensions of colored sparkle in this purple polish.

See that glow from within quality? Gorgeous! I love purple polish on me, and not just because it’s my favorite color. I think the color works really well with my skin tone, since I have so much pink in my coloring.

By the way, did you know that Zoya is vegan and safe for expectant mothers? This goes for their polish AND nail polish remover (Remove +) which is the BESTEST remover on the planet!!! It doesn’t smell bad, it doesn’t dry out your hands or nails, and it removes polish like a breeze! Anyway, see more pictures of Yasmeen!! Read the rest of this entry »

Nails: Orly Royal Navy

Have you ever liked a polish more in the bottle than on your nail? Me too. This was one of those kinds of polishes. It’s not that I didn’t like it in my nails…it was just brighter than I thought it was going to be. It’s still super pretty though. I wore this when I was in Costa Rica, so the sun made it look very pretty!

It’s a royal blue with turquoise shimmer. It seems to glow, doesn’t it? The nail line was not visible in real life. This is 2 coats.

Looking at pictures makes me like it a lot, but I remember not loving it when I was wearing it. It’s still nice though, and I can think of several great polishes that I could layer over it. Maybe I’ll try to Konad with it sometime. What do you think of bright blue polishes?

Award: Versatile Blogger

Jbrobeck of Polish Insomniac tagged me for this award! Thanks girl!!! :-) I’m gonna change the rules a little - I’ll give you 12 facts about myself, then tag 7 other blogs (instead of the other way around). So here it goes…

  1. When I was little I twirled the baton. I took lessons once a week from 4th grade through 8th grade, but I never practiced, so I wasn’t very good.
  2. I was a pretty good flute player. I made county and state bands, got top scores at solo and ensemble competitions, and was 1st chair in my school band.
  3. Speaking of band, I was drum major of my high school marching band junior and senior year. I was the queen of marching! Band was a huge part of my life - I even met my husband in the UCLA marching band in 2001 :-)
  4. I’m a Mathematician, but my mental math is not great. I can easily integrate functions in my head though!
  5. As you probably noticed in my makeup shots, I have a birthmark under my left eye. For every person who tries to tell me that I have makeup or mascara smudged under my eye, then feels stupid when I point out that it’s my birthmark, I wonder how many others think that but don’t say anything. Kinda makes me sad, because I actually like my birthmark.
  6. I have no desire to have kids right now, but I love watching birthing shows and reality shows about raising kids. Strange huh?
  7. Middle school was one of the best times in my life (8th grade in particular). I was on the math team, in band, popular among my group of friends, had a boyfriend, and had some of the most genuine friends of my whole life, that I didn’t really discover again until college. The kind of friends you could talk to for hours on the phone. I miss that.
  8. You wouldn’t think it, but I’ve run the Los Angeles Marathon 3 times.
  9. I’ve never officially played a team sport. T-ball when I was 4 and too young to understand doesn’t count. I don’t like team sports. I don’t like other people having to count on my physical abilities. I can’t deal with that pressure of letting people down…I’m way too hard on myself.
  10. I was the valedictorian of my high school class of 1999. I never got anything lower than an A-.
  11. I really dislike reading. Honestly. Even if it’s something good. If an article or blog post even, is too long, I’ll end up giving up, and skipping to the pictures. I only read books if I’m forced (for school or something). People think it’s weird, but I love doing math - no really, LOVE. How many people do you know who would do math if they didn’t like it? none. I don’t like to read, so I don’t do a lot of it. Get it?
  12. I’ve never been pulled over by a cop, nor have I ever had a cavity (as of today). Let’s hope my luck holds up.

Ok, at first that was difficult, but now I could think of more interesting things. :-) So that was fun! I tag the following blogs:

Look: Venomous Villains Shadows

Here is a look using some of the products I got from the MAC Venomous Villains collection. It’s very fall looking, which I love. I wish the weather would understand that it’s supposed to be fall here in Southern Cali.

The shadows are sorta chalky and dry, but I did my best.

For this look I used:

  • Eyes: NARS Smudgeproof Eye Primer (primer), MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot (base), MAC Sweet Joy (inner lid), MAC De-vil (middle lid), MAC Vainglorious (outer lid), NARS Night Fever (crease), MAC Femme-Fi (highlight), Bobbi Brown Chocolate Shimmer Ink (upper lashline), MAC Teddy Kohl (waterline), MAC Opulash mascara
  • Cheeks: MAC Bite of an Apple blush
  • Lips: Guerlain Gabby (07) Rouge G lipstick

Nails: Misa Street Style

Oh how I love my duochromes! This is a beauty! Misa Street Style is from an old collection. I got it in a swap from a seller in the UK. This is 3 coats.

A pastel blue with strong pink/fuschia shimmer. It’s a little thin, but builds pretty well. This was 3 coats. I loved it so much that I took like 26 pictures *bites lip & looks up*. Whoops :-) Did I mention that I looooove this color? It’s so beautiful.

See more pictures if you can stand it! :-) Yeah, I went a little overboard. Sorry ;-P Read the rest of this entry »

Nails: Illamasqua Poke

I love getting compliments on my nails, and no polish so far has gotten me quite as many compliments as this one! Illamasqua makes some of the most undisputed nicest formula polishes in the industry. I also found out that today is National Coming Out Day! So a purple manicure is perfect for the occasion to show my support for the LGBTQ community. Be loud and proud friends, but most importantly, be you!

This purple glows beyond words. It’s amazing. Yes, it is this bright in real life, and I think that’s why it got so much attention. It has these glowy pieces in it - sort of like RBL Scrangie, but the teal flash is not as pronounced.

I had avoided wearing this for a long time because it was so bright, it made me nervous. I’m not a bright colors on my nails kind of girl, but this was nothing like I thought. Bright, yes. Beautiful, yes! You must see more pictures of this amazing polish! Read the rest of this entry »

Look: Watermelon Candies

After I did this look and took pictures of it, it reminded me of watermelon candies :-) I guess the blue color doesn’t really fit in, but the pink and green together did. It was a nice spring/summer look. I will post some more recent FOTD looks soon. I have some good autumn ones and some new looks from the Venomous Villains collection.

For this look I used:

  • Eyes: UDPP (primer), MAC Girl Friendly PP (base), MAC Free to Be (inner lid), MAC Newly Minted (middle lid), MAC Winkle (outer lid), Bobbi Brown Black Ink (upper lashline), MAC Feline Kohl Power (waterline), Chanel Exceptionnel mascara
  • Cheeks: MAC Daft Pink mineralized blush
  • Lips: Guerlain Grace Rouge G lipstick, Chanel Aqualumiere Pink Diamond lipgloss

Nails: Zoya Reese

Yep, as in Witherspoon! Zoya is a brand that gives all (or almost all) of it’s polishes girl names. There’s one named Heather, and I have it, but I don’t care for the color much. Watch I’ll wear it and love it! Ha!

Oh but this beauty I really do love! This is two coats of Zoya Reese. It applied really well! It’s a raspberry pink with some duochrome gold/green shimmer. It’s beautiful. A perfect shade to wear during the summer. It came out in the Reverie collection, which was probably my favorite collection any polish company has ever come out with. Zoya does some great colors with amazing flashes of other tones within. They glow! Now Zoya just needs to come out with a holo collection, and they’ll rule the NP world!

It looks like Zoya nail polish will now be available at Ulta (woohoo!). Also - did you know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month? Any time is a great time to wear pink, but especially now. I’m a HUGE supporter of BCA after losing my Aunt Sue (and grandmother before I was born…whom I’m named after) to this harmful disease. So sport some pink this month!! See more pictures!
