Nails: Claire’s Dream Catcher
Posted by Heather | Filed under Claire's, Nails
Yep, you read that right, it’s from Claire’s (as in the teeny-bopper earring store). They make some great polishes, and this one is a beauty! It got crazy attention when it came out as being a “dupe” for Chanel Jade. Unfortunately, Chanel Jade came out right before my nail polish craze, so I didn’t get a chance to buy it, and it is not worth the money it’s going for on the bay of evil. This dupe is great!
It’s a beautiful minty green with ever so slight shimmer. The shimmer is really really subtle and barely visible in direct light. As far as minty colors go, this one is on the greener side compared to others. I’m pretty sure I did 2 coats for this polish.
I don’t know why it looks like it gives me “lobster claws” (my fingers look red) because it didn’t look like that in real life. Must be my camera. Oh the battles I fight with my camera *sigh*. Well, the polish is awesome, so see some more pictures! Read the rest of this entry »
Look: Shady Lady Amazing!
Posted by Heather | Filed under Bobbi Brown, Bronze, Brown, Lancome, Looks, MAC
The last time I did a haul at Sephora, I came across this small square palette. It’s called the Shady Lady palette. Now, if you know me, you know that I’m somewhat of a makeup snob. I stick to brands I know and rarely branch out. Something compelled me to swatch these beauties, and they are so buttery soft, so well pigmented, *sigh* I just had to buy them. It was a palette, and around $30, so I felt it was a score. I’ve used every color and never looked back :-)
I’ve used this palette so many times, and I love the color variety! This is the original palette, but it looks like Volume 2 is out now at Sephora. If you’re looking for an awesome quick-look-and-go palette, this does NOT disappoint. And this is coming from me, and I’m verrrrrry particular about my shadows :-)
Now on to the look. This is one of a few I’ve made with this lovely palette. It was back in January, so I’m still dressed for cold weather :-)
Hehe…that’s my big fuzzy sweater!
For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPPS (primer), Shady Lady Palette: jet-setting jennifer (inner & middle lid), shameless-shana (middle & outer lid), caught-in-the-act-courtney (crease), Femme Fi (highlight), Bobbi Brown Chocolate Shimmer Ink, Chanel Exceptionnel mascara
- Cheeks: Cheeky Bronze MSF
- Lips: Lancome Neutral Current lipgloss

Nails: Some Random Nail Spam!
Posted by Heather | Filed under China Glaze, Color Club, Nails, OPI
For those of you that don’t frequent beauty/nail blogs, the term “spam” means a whole bunch of pictures! Basically pretty pictures, and that’s about it. :-)
I have some pictures of random polishes that either didn’t come out great, or I didn’t take enough pictures to give them their own post, or I didn’t do clean-up very well, etc. You get it.
China Glaze Frostbite w/ Konad
Fail. Oh my this wasn’t very good. I’m not a terrific Konader, as you can see. This was China Glaze Frostbite with a gold paisley konad on top. I did this for Super Bowl Sunday, using one color from each team. The gold ended up looking rather silver, yet I was really rooting for the Saints.
I have more pictures and 3 more spam-o-licious manis to show you :-) Read the rest of this entry »
Nails: Zoya Adina
Posted by Heather | Filed under Nails, Zoya
Right now, I need to talk to you about a nail polish color that is my favorite color of all time. It’s made by Zoya - a vegan (look Michelle! Vegan!) leader in nail polish. One advertisement that attracts me is that they are safe polishes for expectant mothers and children. Not that this means anything to my personal life at the moment, but I like that feature about them. They have well over 300 colors, most with girl’s names (yep, I have Heather too). They are incredible innovators, and when they eventually come out with a holographic collection (I’m sure it’s only a matter of time), they will have the entire spectrum of finished conquered.
This. is. Adina.
2 coats. It is the most amazing duochrome. It’s a purple base that flashes green, blue, and teal depending on the angle. It’s unreal. My mouth drops open at the sight of this. I have two bottles because I NEED two bottles. I am a duochrome fanatic, and this one makes it to the top of my list. I need to do another swatch and take a million pictures.
*wonderful sigh* Ok you have to see some more pictures. OH! And btw…Zoya also makes the most incredible nail polish remover. No, not all polish removers are built the same. Trust me! I go through a lot :-) Read the rest of this entry »
Nails: Lippmann Pump Up the Jam w/ OPI Pearl of Wisdom
Posted by Heather | Filed under Lippmann, Nails, OPI
I had my “Valentine’s Day” mani on for several days before my birthday. So by the time we were going to go out for dinner, the mani was tired. I had to change. Fortunately my wonderful mother sent me Lippmann Happy Birthday and Pump Up the Jam for my birthday, so I had something to change into :-) Unfortunately, Pump Up the Jam was very dark…nearly black looking in the shade, and the sun was setting for the evening. So I improvised, and reached for one of my new bottles: OPI Pearl of Wisdom. I had seen it be beautiful over black, so I thought hey, let’s try. And I’m glad I did.
Pearl of Wisdom actually brought out the purple color more and made it glow.
Haha, see the kitty hair? I think I’ll show you a bonus kitteh picture now! :-) Then you can look at the rest of the pictures, ok? :-)

NOTD: RBL Teal w/ Pure Ice Heartbreaker
Posted by Heather | Filed under Nails, Pure Ice, RBL
Rescue Beauty Lounge (RBL) is an amazing nail polish company. I bought all of the ones I have online, and most during a sale. They’re not cheap, but on first application, it’s easy to see why. They are of incredible quality, pigment, and I really love their bottles. Teal (yep, that’s the name) is a straight up creme, and it is an incredibly dark turquoise color. It’s a one-coater, but I did two for good measure. Before I could even take a picture, I slapped Pure Ice Heartbreaker (found at Wal-Mart) over it to see it shimmer away! As you can see, Heartbreaker added a lot of green to the mani, and of course lovely shimmer.
It sparkles and shimmers in the sun. So beautiful!!! But without the direct light, you can see the deep blue of the RBL Teal showing through the shimmer.
You know you gotta see more pictures! Read the rest of this entry »

NOTD: Nfu-Oh #67

A beautiful silver foil!
Nfu-Oh does some of the coolest foil and metallic polishes! Gah…again this is one of my pre-MeganChair cleanups. Well, you can still get a sense of the color though. True shiny silver! This is two coats. See some more pictures!! Read the rest of this entry »
NOTD: Essie Mint Candy Apple
Posted by Heather | Filed under Essie, Nails
I have a serious love for everything mint. I love mint ice cream, candy, drinks, and POLISH! Ok, so I don’t eat my polish, but this mint green color craze makes me very happy. The color goes great with my skin tone, therefore I have a plethora of all kinds of mint green polishes. I’ll do a comparison for you over the summer when I get some time.
This is Essie’s Mint Candy Apple (with flash before clean-up). Two coats, and application was pretty good for me.
Essie polishes wear like iron on me…they just wear for days! I loved it so much after I wore it, I made a pedicure out of it and then got a back-up bottle (which I probably shouldn’t have done). Here’s a picture without the flash.

NOTD: OPI Absolutely Alice
Posted by Heather | Filed under Nails, OPI
Here is another “Go Bruins” color for you! It’s a fabulous glitter of mostly blue with a hint of gold. It really rocked my world for a couple of days. The sparkle is crazy beautiful! Absolutely Alice is a color from the OPI Alice in Wonderland collection that came out early this year in honor of Tim Burton’s remake of the Disney classic. I did go see the movie, and I actually really enjoyed it. I think there was even a line that said “absolutely Alice” in there somewhere. Two coats of this and it dried so nicely! I did put a top coat on it, and it made it a pretty smooth (not like a creme or anything), but not too gritty. The texture really doesn’t bother me either way though.
This is such a gorgeous jewel tone blue. I seriously love it - and the gold is sparse, which gives it dimension more than anything. This one was with a flash, and the one below was in the sun. You can really see the gold in the bottle; it does transfer onto the nail the same, but the sun kinda washes it out in the picture.
So how many ways can I show you this polish? Um…you’ll have to keep reading to find out! LOL!!! Read the rest of this entry »
NOTD: OPI Reflecting Pool
Posted by Heather | Filed under Nails, OPI
I almost feel kinda bad showing you this color. It was a European exclusive, and I don’t know if it’s even available there anymore. I got this bottle off of ebay with birthday money from my in-laws :-) (yes, it was a little pricey). It almost reminds me of a pastel version of Absolutely Alice (which I have also to post, and maybe I’ll do that tomorrow). There are pastel blue and gold shimmer sparkles. Yay - Bruin colors!
I don’t know if it was the formula or what, but this wore like iron on me. I eventually had to take it off and change to another color even though there were little to no chips. It’s an amazing polish!
I’ve got lots more where that came from. See more pictures! Read the rest of this entry »
