Look: Minx & Teal

I’ve recently gotten into some Smashbox shadows, and I absolutely love them! The texture is buttery soft and smooth, the pigmentation is fantastic, and best of all, they are the same size as MAC so I can depot them! Genius! I’ve only picked up a few colors to start: two oranges (Flamingo & Torch), a yellow-tinted white highlight (Oyster), and this one: a taupe/purple-ish color called Minx. It’s a fantastic and fascinating color! Really, I have nothing like it…which as we know is hard to find. I thought I’d mix it up a little and add some teal to this look to match my shirt. :-)

Look: Love These Blues

Blues may be the “forbidden fruit” of eyeshadow colors, but I love them none-the-less :-) Can’t help myself! When I walked into a classroom wearing this look, I could hear the girls in the class whispering to each other, “I love the way she paints her eyes…it’s so pretty…” Awwwww :-)

Look: Cut the Crease Attempt #1

I’ve seen some online tutorials recently spotlighting looks that use a technique called “cutting the crease” where the color below the crease is drastically different from the one above, and they are not blended together. I did a crazy attempt. It’s wild, bold, and loud! I don’t expect that others would readily wear this look “out” but it’s something fun and different to look at :-) I don’t like it much, and I don’t really like the blush with this look either. Should have gone more pink I think.

Look: Pink + Blue…looks Purple?

Well duh, of course pink and blue blended together are going to look purple! Although I was impressed at how each color managed to stand on it’s own and not get completely muddied together. This look is quite bright and fun.

Look: Subtle Intensity

My combinations of yellows and blues aren’t gonna go away anytime soon :-) I just have too many UCLA and Edison MS shirts, and they beg for me to do yellow and blue looks to match! This look, I felt, came out subtle - as in, it’s not in-your-face. But it’s still pretty intense when you look at the makeup. I loves it :-)

Look: Sorta <3 it…

Meh, not a great look this time. I think I needed liner on the bottom or something… It’s just light, and doesn’t do it for me, but hey, maybe it’s more someone else’s style? :-)

Look: Colors of the Sun

Ok, well they’re not that bright. I don’t know why, but orange eyeshadow totally intrigues me! I’m so fascinated with it, and I am determined to make every color eyeshadow work somehow. Can’t say the same for lip colors unfortunately - bright pinks, severly dark, or bright opaque colors on my lips just looks wrong, and I can’t get over it enough to wear it out. Eyeshadow, on the other hand, usually has me blending anywhere from 4-10 colors together, so I can make any color work (they all play nice together). I really wanted to use some flame-like colors with this look, as well as incorporate my new NARS goodies (Mekong = pure love btw!). You’ll be seeing some more orange-inspired looks soon too. Thoughts?

Man, I’m already running out of clever names to title my posts…it’s sad :-/ LOL Oh, and my shirt says “There’s STRENGTH in numbers!” and has lots of numbers on it. I’m a total math nerd, what can I say?! :-)
