Tutorial: Navy & Lighter Shades Look

Yay my very first tutorial! I wore this look two days in a row, and figured that the second time, I’d turn it into a pictorial step-by-step. Well, it’s not a video, but maybe this’ll give you some idea of how this look is put together. Please let me know if this is helpful at all or give me some feedback as to how I can make it better, and I’ll try to do more if you’d like :-) Thanks for looking!
For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPPS (primer), Bare Study PP (base), Bright Side (inner & middle lid), marbled side of Polar Opposite (outer lid & crease), navy blue side of Inter-View (outer crease), light pink side of Word-of-Mouth (highlight), Bobbi Brown Sapphire Shimmer Ink (upper & lower lashline), Chanel Exceptionnel mascara.

Look: Navy & Lighter Shades

I dug into my mineral shadows for this look. I really liked the way it came together. Reminds me of the Kim Kard. look I did a little while back. Oh, lovin the BB Shimmer Ink too!

Look: Bell Bottom Blue Base

I didn’t really plan this look so well…I wish I had because then I could have used Delft PP as a base rather than Soft Ochre which is warm beige. After layering shadow over it, however, it disappeared, but I would have liked the blue to have been even more vibrant with a blue base. Anyway, these cool colors ended up coming together nicely and I was really happy with the result. I was planning on wearing a cool-toned nude lipstick, and this one is more on the pink edge, but I liked it!

Look: School Colors

Look: Rose Romance Mutiny & Circa Plum

I’d almost forgotten that these pigments came out with RR because I already had both of them. What a great combination they make though! I’m loving it! Though I put Mutiny on my lower lashline which I think makes me look a little tired or something. Maybe I should have only put it on the outer lower lashline. Ah well, it still came out nice. Also, I think Graphology would have worked better for me in the crease, but I wanted to stick to colors from this collection, so I just layered on Shadowy Lady until it was dark enough. These colors together remind me of my Sweetie Cakes quad. Very pretty, summery, shimmery, yum! I used a purple-toned lipstick, but I also think this would look nice with a light pink lip…Angel or Shy Girl or something pastel pink.

Look: Deep Truth Smokey

I love wearing bright blue! This is a look kinda like the Kim Kard. look, but with Deep Truth instead of Contrast. Et Tu, Bouquet? is so light on me, it might as well not be there…I also threw in a little Silverthorn to make the lid a little smokier. :-)

Look: Dior Electric Lights Quint

Finally…a Dior quint that has some descent color payoff! In my experience with the quints, they are just so disappointing in the amount of color I can get on my lid. This one finally gave some oomph, but MAC colors still do it better IMO. The color in the middle is very purple, though it looks like a navy blue in the picture. I included a close-up of it after the jump with the rest of my pics. What do you think of this quint? Worth the money?

Look: My Attempt at Kim Kardashian’s Look

I found some video tutorials done by Kim Kardashian and her makeup artist, so I decided to try to do it myself. This was my first attempt, so it’s not perfect…but I actually liked the way it came out. I am WELL AWARE that I look NOTHING like Kim Kardashian, and I’m not trying to - just trying to copy her makeup :-) I got some nice compliments on it too!
For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPP (primer), Painterly PP (base), Contrast (outer lid & crease), Naked Pigment (inner & middle lid), UD 24/7 Zero pencil liner overlayed with Contrast e/s, Chanel Exceptionnel mascara

Look: Dark Blue Fyrinnae Colors

I was in a hurry…my palette shadows were in the living room…so I grabbed my Fyrinnae colors and went to work. I did a dark blue eye. I liked it - smokey, sultry, a little dark. Nothing to it really - seriously only 3 colors total and I was done. Quick and easy…ok not really that easy because Fyrinnae colors are pigments so I have fall-out problems with them.

Look: Silver Smokey with Some Color

This is the look I used for my first tutorial. What I discovered is that it’s difficult to do a tutorial without deciding exactly what colors I wanted to use and without having a close-up mirror. It ended up being 25 minutes! So needless to say, I will have to do some major editing and cutting down. I talk too much lol! Also, I’ve never used any video editing software before, so we’ll see…it might not be posted for a while, but at least I’m getting started on it and I’m learning!
