Look: Photo Realism Quad: Fresh Approach

I don’t have a lot of time to write, so I’ll make it short and sweet. This is one of my most favorite quads since MAC came out with the Sweetie Cakes quad several (3+) years ago. This is the Fresh Approach look that I wore when I worked for MAC that weekend that Makeup Art Cosmetics launched.

Look: Fashion Forward Navy…I’m back!

I don’t officially know if I have that many followers. I know of the few who are sweeties and leave comments, and those totally brighten my day :-) I’ve definitely been neglecting my blog and my makeup lately. I feel bad for doing so, but I just haven’t had the motivation to put in the time or energy to post, and I’m not sure why. Though, I have been so busy…it’s almost depressing. Not that I’m complaining or anything. My day job is seriously a 12+ hour day, and I used to bring the excess work home, no worries. But I also started my Masters in Educational Administration plus a credential that’s all going to be completed in one year. So I have class after work, two days per week until 10pm and copious amounts of reading and homework. Now juggling work and school is stressfull, but doable. Lots of people do it!

BUT, the greatest news is that my husband and I just bought our first house (ok, it’s a condo)!! 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, 1800 sq. ft. piece of realestate in southern California, and it’s all ours! :-) We’re extatic and love our new place, but moving is sooooooo hard and time consuming! Geez! So I’ve been so tired lately…oy. Anyway, I’m hoping to get back to my blog and hopefully start even doing some new tutorials. One of the spare bedrooms is my “office” where I’m converting my old desk into a makeup vanity :-) So exciting!!! In a few weeks, you’ll be seeing different backgrounds in my pictures! Anyway, if you’re still around, thanks for sticking with me…it means a lot!

Now on to the look…this one is back from mid August. It’s so easy, it’s almost laughable. But I usually bring the color up a lot higher than my crease because my eyes are naturally so hooded. For this look, I kept the color really tight around just my eyelid and around the lashline. It feels very fashion forward, and I know I’ve seen it in magazines before. I liked it a lot and enjoyed that it was different…refreshing :-)

Look: Love These Blues

Blues may be the “forbidden fruit” of eyeshadow colors, but I love them none-the-less :-) Can’t help myself! When I walked into a classroom wearing this look, I could hear the girls in the class whispering to each other, “I love the way she paints her eyes…it’s so pretty…” Awwwww :-)

Look: Purples with Range

The colors that I can show the most depth and range with are greens and teals. There are so many good light vs. dark contrasts that I can make on the eye using those colors. Strangely, purple isn’t usually one of those colors that I can make that nice contrast with. And I say strangely, because it should be easy - purple ranges immensely from light to dark, from the reddish to the blueish, etc. So you’d think it would be easy, but not so in my experience. Put this time I feel like I did accomplish a nice fade. It all doesn’t look like one muddied color for once! I’m not sure what I did differently…maybe using the Yaby Pearl Paints as bases worked better for me. Anyway, here’s the look!

Purples with Range Look (17)

  • Eyes: UDPP (primer), Yaby Pearl Paints in purples (base), Crystal (inner lid), Noctournelle (middle lid), Jewel Tone (outer lid), Top Knot (crease), Vellum (highlight), Rave Pearlglide (lower lashline), Bobbi Brown Black Ink (upper liner), Plushlash mascara
  • Cheeks: True Romance BPB
  • Lips: Guerlain (expensive lipstick with no name lol!) + I can’t remember which gloss…sorry!

Look: Green Scheme

That Green Theme look I did is one of my new favorites, so I’ve used it a few times already :-) Just changed up the cheeks and lips a bit. I know it’s lame of me to post the same look so soon, but it pops color, there’s contour and shading, and it’s just everything I’m all about, so I love it. I hope you do too!! I think I may need to do this one as a tutorial!

Look: Graphic Garden

Holy awesomeness! I love this palette! Ok, I’ve only done one look with it, but I really like it - full of color (which everyone knows is how I like it)! I like this one even more than the Fresh Cut palette…not more than the Kat Von D palettes though :-) Close second!

Look: Green Theme (new fav!)

This is one of my new favorite looks! I’m gonna end up posting it twice, but to tell the truth, I’ve worn it 3 times since I did this one. *giggle* It’s surprisingly simple actually (well, the shadow part anyway). I wasn’t sold on the lip color, so I when I did it the second time, I went more nude and orangy-coral. Plus, this one was with glasses, so that hides it a little. Since I wear daily-disposable contacts, I didn’t want to waste a whole pair on only a dinner/evening out (husband’s friend’s birthday dinner). So…anyway, there you go. I <3 GREEN SHADOWS!!!
