Nails: Urban Decay Bruise
Posted by Heather | Filed under Nails, Urban Decay
This is a long discontinued color. Two coats of beautiful duo-chrome shimmer. Some people say there are dupes, but I beg to differ. Urban Decay Bruise is an eggplant purple base packed with blue/teal shimmer. I had terrible chips the first day, and it didn’t really make it to day 2, but the time that I had to enjoy this mani was well worth it. Seriously, this is so incredibly pretty. It stays in a special drawer with only the MOST special polishes :-)
It’s jam packed with shimmer. All of these pictures are taken in the sun (in the car really).
Several more beautiful pictures await you below! This is a very special polish. It might still be available on the bay of evil if you want to try finding one for yourself. I wish Urban Decay would bring these amazing shimmer polishes. Why are the best polishes discontinued anyway?! Read the rest of this entry »
Nails: Rococo Andromeda
Posted by Heather | Filed under Nails, Rococo
One of the great nail polish wonders of the world is the *original* OPI My Private Jet, which is a dark charcoal/black holographic polish. This is not that polish. This is from the brand Rococo, and I was lucky enough to get it at Bloomingdales in South Coast Plaza. It’s called Andromeda, and it is amazingly beautiful! Holographic goodness!!! I have many, many pictures ahead for you to drool over :-)
It’s no Nfu Oh holo or anything, but it is super duper pretty. This is two coats.
Oh it’s so gorgeous… you MUST see more (many more) pictures! Read the rest of this entry »
Nails: RBL Concrete Jungle

One of my favorite nail brands, Rescue Beauty Lounge, is about to come out with a new set of fall colors based on 4 of the wives of Henry VIII. What a great idea, right? I think it’s really unique. RBL makes great colors with perfect formulations. This is their signature gray color: Concrete Jungle. Two coats and it was perfectly opaque.
Grays are very popular right now. Do you like gray nail polish? I think it’s very neutral-chic.

Nails: P2 Rebel

Here is a way better P2 polish to show you. Bright jewel tone purple. Beautiful. This is 2 coats.
This was the second day after polishing, so there is a little tip wear. Sorry about that. It’s a little less blue in real life. Really, the perfect purple!

Nails: P2 Electric

I’ve done a few international swaps, that have all been very successful! I did a swap with a sweet, sweet girl in Europe who got me these P2 polishes. As soon as I laid eyes on this one, I had to do a mani with it. Unfortunately, in my excitement, I either did the coats too thick or too fast, but it bubbled like crazy!!! It was sad. The color in the bottle didn’t translate to the nail and there were bubbles galore.
My fingernails look diseased :-( Oh well, the color is pretty.
Well, not all of the pictures came out badly. But this definitely isn’t my finest moment in nail polish :-/ Read the rest of this entry »
Nails: Orly Star of Bombay w/ Hidden Treasure
Posted by Heather | Filed under Nails, Orly, Sally Hansen
I originally bought Orly Star of Bombay because it looked like it would be a navy blue jelly. Nope. I could tell after the first coat that it wasn’t. Oh well. It’s a really dark navy blue. I was disappointed, so I didn’t take much care in the application…sorry about the messiness.
Since I was bored with it by itself, I added a coat of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure to spice it up. In person, it looked JUST like a black topped with HT, which I like, but the navy color gets washed out. It comes out more in pictures though.

Nails: Nubar Midnight Glory w/ Hidden Treasure
Posted by Heather | Filed under Nails, Nubar, Sally Hansen
Well, this did not come out even close to what I had hoped. I wore this the day we went to Disneyland, but as you can see, even in the sunlight, Hidden Treasure does not come out at all. Maybe it helps the pink undertone of Midnight Glory to shine a little brighter, but that’s it. Le sigh.
I mean, it’s pretty and all, but it just comes off looking kinda bumpy. Meh. Read the rest of this entry »

Oh this is such a beauty. A lovely robins egg blue with pink shimmer. It’s nearly a duochrome that flashes pink, but that is incredibly hard to capture on camera.
You can see it really well in the bottle, but not as well on the nails :-) See more pictures!! Read the rest of this entry »

Nails: OPI DS Glow

This color is quite epic. There are some who say that this would be the one polish they’d wear for the rest of time if they had to pick. But for me…not so much. It’s gold, and gold looks terrible with my skin tone when it comes to nail polish. I tried, but it’s just not my color. I haven’t found a color eyeshadow that doesn’t agree with me, and I figured it would be the same when I got into polish. Unfortunately gold, like yellow gold, does not love my fingers. Good thing my jewelry is white gold eh? Haha!
You may not be able to see the clash with my skin in these pictures, but it’s apparent in real life. Well, DS Glow is actually a gold that leans toward copper/rust. So it’s not terrible on me, but I probably won’t wear it again. What about you? Have you found a polish color that you just cannot pull off, no mater how much you love it in the bottle?
