Look: Training Day
Posted by Heather | Filed under Gold, Green, Looks, MAC, Smokey, Teal
This is the look I wore for the 2 hour training I had to go to at the MAC Pro store before I could work the Hello Kitty event. The training was…eh…didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know. Everything he showed us could be found online…and are already on most large beauty blogs, but surprisingly, many of those artists don’t read any!
For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPPS (primer), Greenstroke PP (base), Chartreuse Pigment (inner lid & lower lashline), Teal Pigment (outer lid), Gorgeous Gold (blended on upper lid), Nylon (highlight), UD 24/7 Zero (upper lashline), UD 24/7 Flipside (waterline), Chanel Exceptionnel mascara
- Cheeks: Enough Said Beauty Powder Blush + MSF Redhead
- Lips: Creme Sherry lipliner + Cherish lipstick + Ola Mango! lipglass

Q & A: Questions Answered by Coloruza
Posted by Heather | Filed under Beauty Support & FAQ
Dear Readers!
I will be doing one of these question-type posts once every few months or so (or more if it seems popular enough). The idea is to ask me any and all of your make-up/beauty related questions. Maybe you have a question about a product, how to combine certain colors, what foundation is best, what stuff I use besides the color stuff, whether one color is a good dupe for another, what brushes to use, etc. Also, if you have any recommendations as to types of posts you’d like to see, please let me know!
Look: Shades of Gold
Posted by Heather | Filed under Black, Gold, Looks, MAC, Smokey
I had a client that wanted a look done with golds to match an ivory dress with gold in it. So I did a look that might go well with such a dress, but I paired it with a black shirt. Did you know…that MAC employees wear all black because light doesn’t reflect off of black, so the bright lights in the department store won’t reflect the color of their clothing onto the faces of customers they’re doing makeup for. Makes sense! Plus they can wear any kind of makeup they want with all black!
For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPPS (primer), Cash Flow PP (base), Gold Mode Pigment (inner lid), Rose Gold Pigment (outer lid), Gorgeous Gold (middle lid), Goldmine (middle lid), Black Tied (crease), Dreammaker (highlight), Blacktrack Fluidline (upper lashline), Feline Kohl Power (waterline), UD 24/7 Honey liner (lower lashline), Chanel Exceptionnel mascara
- Cheeks: Margin blush
- Lips: Cream Cerise lipstick + lipgloss I can’t remember…sorry!

Look: Shadowy Lady Quad
Posted by Heather | Filed under Blue, Looks, MAC, Purple, Smokey
The Shadowy Lady quad came out with the Cult of Cherry launch in 2008. It was probably their biggest makeup packed launch of that year. This quad has Deep Truth (which I already owned two of when I bought it), but when you get 4 shadows for less than $40, it’s worth it if you want at least 3 of them. The purples are gorgeous! I used the blue (Deep Truth) as my lid color, then built up the purples from there. Hope you like it!
For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPPS (primer), Girl Friendly PP (base), Shadowy Lady quad: Smudged Violet (inner lid), Deep Truth (middle lid), Shadowy Lady (outer lid & crease), Lightfall (highlight), Auto-de-blu Technakohl liner (upper lashline & waterline), UD 24/7 linner in Ransom (lower lashline), Chanel Exceptionnel mascara
- Cheeks: Warm Soul Mineralized Blush
- Lips: Beurre lipliner + Chanel Crazed lipstick

Hard Work!!
Posted by Heather | Filed under MAC, Uncategorized
Some of you might be wondering how my free-lancing job went today. One down, two to go. It was some HARD work!!! I got there early, was given my (kind of bare) brush belt, a quick tour around the inside of the counter, and a run-down of what to do. I think I handled everything pretty well.
I did 2 full make-overs and a few eye-demos. Other than that, I was the basic counter girl. I helped everyone who came up with everything they needed. The hardest part about the free-lance work is that I can’t actually do the checking out, so I have to ask all of the others to do the transactions for me, and I feel like I annoy them by always asking. But it’s ok cuz I did what I could to help out, always working, cleaning something, putting something away, asking people if they needed help, and trying my best not to get in the way…OMG it’s so hard to squeeze by people behind that counter hehe :-)
Tomorrow will probably be kinda nuts being Valentine’s Day and all. Doing the make-overs is only difficult because I don’t have everything I need right there near me. I have to go hunting for stuff, or someone else might be using it, or I just can’t find the color I need, etc. My feet hurt so so so so so bad, I can’t even explain it. It reminds me of my wedding day how much they hurt and continue to hurt even after I’m off of them!
Anyway, the other thing that kinda sucked was how many things they were out of. The counter is actually pretty tiny, but were sold out of so many things - I just hate showing people gorgeous colors that they fall in love with, then having to tell them we’re out…it’s just a yucky feeling.
All in all, it was really fun and I came out smiling (and rubbing my feet)! I’m not scared to go back in tomorrow, and I know by Sunday I’ll have it down. Free-lancing is perfect for me, because it’s fun for a few days…a few times per year :-) but it is hard work!
Now I know why artists that get to work in the stores have to first put in their dues at a counter! ;-)
Look: Copy Kitty - Aqua & Mauve
Posted by Heather | Filed under Gray, Looks, MAC, Purple, Smokey, Teal
The look I did today was to copy the other Hello Kitty palette - Too Dolly. It has a very light highlight color, an aqua color, a mauve-purple color, and a dark gray color. So I used similar colors in honor of “launch day”. However, I was a bit peeved to find out that it actually launched this past Monday!! Ah well, I have my stuff now and I’ll be posting about it later. In the mean time, check out my copy cat look!
For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPPS (primer), Rollickin’ PP (base), Sky Blue (inner & middle lid), Crème de Violet (outer & upper lid), Print (crease), Vapor (highlight), Night Sky Glitter pencil liner (upper lashline), UD 24/7 Flipside (lower lashline), UD 24/7 Zero (waterline), Chanel Exceptionnel mascara
- Cheeks: Stark Naked Beauty Powder Blush + Dior Pink Diamond Shimmer
- Lips: Romancin’ lipstick + Frozen Dream lipglass

Look: Bang-On Blue!
Posted by Heather | Filed under Blue, Looks, MAC, Smokey
Many people find it difficult to wear blue eyeshadow without looking like Mimi from the Drew Carry show. I think if it’s worn well, anyone can pull it off. Depending on your skin tone, you can bring it out smokey like this look or just add a small bit to the lid just for a tint. Blue comes in so many shades which makes it an amazing color family to work with. In this look I tried (really hard) to bring out the royal blue shade to match my shirt, but I don’t feel I was that successful - it’s too silvery. Using Contrast in the crease darkened it up a little, but it’s still one of my favorite looks. Enjoy!
For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPPS (primer), Delft PP (base), Fade (inner lid), Bang-on Blue (middle lid), Submarine (outer/upper lid), Contrast (crease), Vellum (upper lid to blend), Rose Blanc (highlight), Feline Kohl Power (upper lashline & waterline), UD 24/7 Deviant (lower lashline), Chanel Exceptionnel mascara
- Cheeks: NARS Outlaw blush + Petticoat MSF
- Lips: Jubilee lipstick + YSL Golden Gloss #11

Look: Copy Kitty - Orange & Purple
Posted by Heather | Filed under Gray, Looks, MAC, Orange, Purple, Smokey
I was a copy cat…er, copy kitty! I tried to do a look with similar colors to the Lucky Tom palette coming out tomorrow with the Hello Kitty launch. I originally thought I had Paradisco…turns out I do not! I thought I had Yogurt too…but I don’t! So…I felt justified to order the two palettes since I don’t have either of the two permanant colors that are coming in them. Hope to get them tomorrow in the mail!
For this look I used:
- Eyes: UDPPS (primer), Perky PP (base), Peppier (inner lid), Jeweltone (outer lid), Suspicion (crease), Rice Paper (highlight), UD 24/7 Zero liner (upper lashline), UD 24/7 liner Ransom (waterline), Chanel Exceptionnel mascara
- Cheeks: Pleasantry Mineralized Blush
- Lips: Gingerroot lipliner + Lamé lipstick
Just a simple 4 colors for this look, but it comes out looking pretty dramatic. See more pictures! Read the rest of this entry »
Look: Deep Blue Green Smokey
Posted by Heather | Filed under Blue, Green, Looks, MAC, Smokey
Deep Blue Green is a beautiful MAC PRO pigment. It’s being re-launched with Hello Kitty (coming out on Thursday). Of course I already have it, since I have almost every pigment and this one is especially shimmery and beautiful. It’s actually a very simple look with only 3 colors on the eye. It’s not nearly as dimensional like my other looks are, but I wanted the Deep Blue Green to stand on its own. Tomorrow I’ll post a look with colors that are similar to the ones coming out in the Hello Kitty Lucky Tom quad.
For this look I used:
- Eyes: Deep Blue Green + Mixing Medium (base), Humid (above crease), Femme-Fi (inner corner & highlight), Jealous Kohl Power liner, Chanel Exceptionnel mascara
- Cheeks: NARS Madly blush
- Lips: Chanel Sahara Beige + YSL Golden Gloss #2
PS - Just as an FYI to my readers: Since I got this camera for my blog, I have not skipped one day in photographing my looks. There have been some days that I haven’t posted, but that just means that I now have about a 5 day buffer between when I do the look and when I post it. So this blog holds all of my looks of 2009 so far!!! Pretty neat, huh? Even if I don’t particularly like a look, I try to post it just to show what I do, and what may not be my cup of tea, someone else might love for themselves, you know? Ok, enough of my going on and on. Go see more pictures! Read the rest of this entry »
