Look: My Cousin’s Wedding

My little cousin Mallory got married in the little town of Abilene, TX. I was in her “House Party” which means pretty much nothing, but I got to walk down the isle with a wrist flower and be special for a night because we’re related, which was really nice. It was a freaking beautiful wedding. Parts of it were simple, and parts of it were exquisite. I was asked to wear a black dress, so this is the makeup I decided to wear with the black dress, evening, 450 people attending wedding. Simple, matte, neutral eyes and dark lips. At first I went with a dark silvery lipstick (Chantecaille’s Luna), but my husband said it looked like it was for a funeral. So I switched to the YSL #41, which I felt was too bright. So thank goodness I brought that black gloss - it was so perfect to darken up the lip color! As my mom said,” Who would’a thunk?!” She even wanted to try some on top of her mauve lipstick! Haha!

Look: For the Rehearsal

Well, this look was done for the rehearsal “day” for my cousin’s wedding. She’s 22 and the wedding was in Abilene, TX. First I went and got my nails done with my mom - I chose a Nubar color (blue duochrome) which is really pretty and I wore a black dress for the wedding, so anything would match. Then we went to one of their family friends’ house for a wine and cheese gathering. It was one of the strangest houses I’ve ever seen…and there was no wine, and not a lot of cheese. Very strange. Anyway, then we headed to the church for the rehearsal and a mexican restaurant called “Amanda’s” (mexican?) for dinner. It was a fun day overall. I wanted to do a look that was indicative of me while not doing anything that people would be shocked with. I dunno if I was able to pull off both (since you never really know what people will say about you), but I really liked it. It came out exactly how I wanted it to, so that always makes me happy!

Look: It’s Picture Day & I Don’t Want to Pick Colors

:-( I had one of those days…the kind where you just don’t want to get ready. Yep, didn’t feel like doing my makeup this particular day. Have you ever had those? I wasn’t sure what to wear and I didn’t want to pick out shadow colors. I’m not sure why this happened to me, and I hope it’s gone from my system soon!! I was wining to my husband, and he said “so don’t get ready.” I laughed. That’s not an option. For me, that would be like going to school naked or something! Seriously, the only downside to doing my makeup in full-looks everyday is that THIS is what I look like to people. Anything would look…well…strange, different. It’s expected that I look like this. *Sigh* It’s ok though - I like what I do…just having a stressful week I suppose :-) So this look is pretty basic and simple. Care to try it yourself?

Ok, and that being said - I LOVE this look, really. My picture came out awesome (as school pictures go you know). Who knew huh? So simple :-)

Look: For Denny’s Birthday!

Happy Birthday Eve, Denny! Tomorrow is Denny (one of my loyal reader/commenter’s) birthday! She sent me a message asking for a special look just for her, and here is what I decided on :-) For you Denny, nothing but the best! Dior on the eyes, MAC on the cheeks, and Bobbi Brown on the lips. She likes darker colors on lips, so that’s what I went with, while still keeping the look simple and sophisticated (because while birthdays are fun, they still mean you’re getting older!).It’s a berry wine color that still somehow manages to look neutral, but made-up, you know? Oh, and I did a little contouring on the cheeks. I kept the majority of the cheek color to the back (near the hair line) and a little below the cheek bone, then highlighted the top of the cheek bonewith a highlighting color to bring it out. I hope you like it Denny! :-)

Dear MAC…

Dear MAC,

I WANT:

  • More Paint Pot colors: silver, navy blue, baby blue, kelly green, yellow, a true purple, and different finishes too!
  • A navy blue fluidline!
  • A TRUE silvery eyeshadow (but not with glitter)
  • More Kohl Powers - and make them permanent!
  • Opaque lipglosses…some with shimmer, some without!
  • A kick-@$$ eyeshadow primer. Seriously?! You make all colors of shadows and you don’t have a descent primer?! Come on now!
  • Oh AND I want a GWP or some kind of thank-you for being a loyal customer and buying practically everything!

That is all.
Sincerely,
Heather (Coloruza)

Look: Springtime Pink & Green

I need new color combination ideas. I can’t wait for MAC Graphic Garden because those will be fun colors to put together. I was thinking about pairing up pink and green for this look. Not bright like the Barbie look; just soft colors, but that aren’t overly blended and muddy. I couldn’t think of regular e/s colors that I wanted to use for this look, so I went with all pigments.

Look: MAC Freelance Work - Solar Bits Love

I worked again for MAC a couple weeks ago. It was some freelance hours, and I’m really happy they called me. It was a lot of fun! I sold stuff (of course) and did a few make-overs, one on a girl going to an Indian Wedding :-) She liked her look so that made me happy! This look was one I particularly like, and I actually had several customers asking what products I was wearing because they really liked the “foil” look that the Solar Bits gave it. I hooked ’em up :-) And of course, I didn’t let them get the Solar Bits without getting at least one Paint Pot…because really it would just be irresponsible of me to let them try to do a look without one, right?! Hmmm, so that gets me thinking…what do YOU all use as an eyeshadow primer/base?? What works best for you?
