Look: Gorgeous Fire Colors

It may be hard to tell from the pictures, but this is one of my edgy(er) looks. The darkest color in there is some red, so maybe it seems more edgy to me because the colors are so bright. This look is really straight up gold/yellow, orange, and red with black liner. The black liner really pulls it together too. I love wearing this look with a yellow shirt. Everything pops. A guy in my credential program even said something to me, like, whoa…your eyes look cool! It was a nice compliment :-) This look gives me a lot of confidence, but it’s not exactly “professional” so I have to be careful when I wear something this exotic :-) But isn’t it just perfect for summer?!

I did not write down the exact colors on this look either. I know…I suck. I’m getting back into it I promise. I know I could recreate it again if I wanted though. I am pretty sure I used an SMH gold/yellow color, and for sure SMH has that killer red. MAC doesn’t make a kick ass red like that unfortunately. Something about the red dye causing irritation. Whatever. On my lips I’m gonna say a golden gloss, or at least just a gloss with gold in it. For the upper lash liner, you don’t want to use a pencil - I either used Penultimate liner or Bobbi Brown’s Black Ink liner because both dry and don’t budge. They won’t come off on your upper lid. I have to be very careful with that when I wear lighter lid colors. Oooh I love this look!!! You gotta see some more (many more) pictures below. I have to wear this again soon, and when I do, I’ll document the exact colors if you’d like to know :-)

NOTD: NARS Purple Rain

These posts have been a little old, and must have been before I got my proper clean-up brush. So, pardon the frazzle…sorry. This color was a pretty big deal. It has one of those glow from within qualities. To tell the truth, I was much more impressed with it inside the bottle. It is royal purple, jewel toned really, with pink and blue shimmer.

Sure, it looks supurb with the flash, but it just didn’t do it for me in the shade or in normal light. It’s pretty and all, but I really like Illamasqua’s deep purple color more…can’t remember the name right now. There are polishes I wear sometimes and don’t get pictures of…so I need to rewear that one and get a good pic. You might still be able to find it at Nordstrom or on the NARS website. Anyway, if you like this polish, see some more pictures! Read the rest of this entry »

NOTD: Chanel Black Velvet w/ Illusion D’Or

Recently Chanel released 3 limited edition polishes. Black Velvet was advertised as a matte, but from swatches on other blogs, it looked very velvet and squishy-like. So I thought I would give it a try. It did NOT play nice with the flaws on my nails, so I did not take pictures of it on its own. So of course I layered it with the other (much more coveted) limited edition Chanel Illusion D’Or. It’s a golden glitter top coat with sparce large pieces of bule glitter thrown in. It’s gorgeous. Definitely for layering, though.

Can you see the little blue flakes? There are some more pics below that show it better - keep reading! It’s pretty, and I should try layering it over some other colors too. Sorry for the frazzle (lack of clean-up around the edges and cuticles). This wasn’t my best work by any means :-) See some more pictures!! Read the rest of this entry »

Look: Sophisticated Drama

Unfortunately, I did not write down the specifics of this look. It’s matte taupes and grays. It’s sophisticated enough for work or an important meeting, but it has enough drama to still be me.

Bobbi Brown makes some excellent nudish mattes. I have a set of 6 that has both warm browns and cool grays. Seriously - if you’re into these colors, take a look at Bobbi Brown’s. See more pictures! Read the rest of this entry »
